About Us...
Kilmurry McMahon is currently a mini barn located on the grounds of Sand Creek Stables. Though we are hoping very soon to become a private barn and move to our own facilities in Ireland. Our main focus is dressage and we are currently working on starting up a good solid breeding program. To narrow our focus a little more, we decided that all of our show horses would be either Trakehners or Westphalians. Over the years we've been able to work with both of these breeds and just fell in love with them. It doesn't mean that there aren't some other amazing warmbloods out there! But we've decided to stick to these two breeds. As you'll see most of our horses show in Dressage, but we've also come across some amazing horses and we just couldn't say no to them. So we have a few Eventing and Show Jumping horses in our string.
Kilmurry McMahon is also a racing barn. We mostly started racing horses as a means of helping our cashflow situation. Showing can be a very expensive sport and we thought why not race horses? Since racing doesn't follow our original focus, we may have gotten a little carried away. We've not only gotten into Thoroughbred flat racing, but also Arabian racing & Endurance racing (and we hope to at some point get into Stock racing as well).
Jana Kroesbergen is a unique young women who is absolutely obsessed with horses. From the time she was very small she loved looking at all the pretty horses in her mother's horse books. Jana started riding later in life, but made up for lost time quickly. Through her teen years when she wasn't able to ride as much she was heavily involved with a horse SIM game. For her 'college' education Jana went to a private school in Western Canada and for four months did nothing but horses 7 days a week. During that time she learned to train horses and expanded on her english and western riding skills. She graduated with her Kanadiana's Rider Master II certificate, Equine Canada's English Instructor certification and Equine Canada's Western Level One Coaching certification. Currently Jana enjoys living out her horse dreams through Riata. More recently she has started riding an OTTB gelding named Flynn twice a week and catching up with her old dressage coach about 'how the manure turns'. Jana can be a little shy or quiet on the boards (and is pushing herself recently to make more of an effort), but really loves to get to know new and old members a like.
